The ESD Floor Care Technician is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety in a hospital environment through floor care, carpet cleaning, and emergency response. The role involves operating powered cleaning equipment, handling regulated medical waste, and adhering to hospital safety protocols during an overnight shift. This position requires experience in floor care, effective communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse internal and external groups in a healthcare setting.
**Schedule will be 11pm-730am Monday through Friday and every other weekend and holidays**
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing hard floor care: dust mops, damp mops, stripping, waxing, and refinishing floors; performing spray buffing
- Cleaning carpets and furniture. vacuuming, doing spot removal and shampoos
- Cleaning and maintaining assigned areas including stairwells and elevators
- Operating electric and battery powered equipment for cleaning services and rearranging of furniture/equipment
- Picking up supplies and packing regulated medical waste
- Wearing protective clothing as required (i.e.: surgery dress code, medical waste packing, ribavirin and/or isolation precautions, etc.)
- Responding to floods and other emergencies, drying and cleaning facilities and equipment as directed
- Using equipment to respond to emergency as directed and in accordance with hospital and department protocols to ensure personal and environmental safety is protected
Experience:
- A min of 6 months of experience as a floor care technician 1 or equivalent experience
- Ability to operate powered machinery in a safe and effective manner
- The ability to read and understand written instructions in English
- The ability to understand and respond to moderately complex written or verbal instructions in English
- The ability to respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information. Work requires contact with patients and/or visitors which involves courtesy
- The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
