The Quality Assurance Technician supports continuous improvement by performing regular testing and calibration of cement plant materials and equipment to ensure product quality and operational efficiency. The role requires knowledge of chemical processes, testing standards (ASTM, AASHTO, API), mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety protocols in an industrial environment. Candidates should have an associate degree or relevant experience in quality control or cement manufacturing, with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Quality Assurance Technician
ABOUT THE ROLE
Work with other members of the quality team to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the plant in order to maximize operational efficiency in an environment of continuous improvement; to provide timely and accurate process control information, to ensure that all testing equipment is operating properly, and to certify that the completed product meets intended specifications.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors on a daily basis.
• Have a desire and ability to work in a team and function in a supporting role taking directions from other team members in a collaborative environment.
• Be competent in performing all responsibilities of a Quality Assurance Technician, including but not limited to;
o Performing daily sample collection and testing of raw mix, kiln feed, clinker, cement, etc. per SOP guidance and any applicable standards.
o Performing weekly raw materials and barge analyzes of incoming materials at the required interval. Prepare cement composites for physical testing by Quality Assurance Technicians. Complete cement blends for customer samples when needed as directed.
o Have a thorough understanding of the chemistry of raw materials and products to understand how elements and chemical changes will affect the production process.
• Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all relevant ASTM, AASHTO, and API testing and calibration procedures and how to apply them.
• Have the ability to operate and perform routine maintenance and accuracy checks on testing equipment.
• Calibrate and ensure that all testing equipment is operating within designated parameters. Work closely with the Quality Coordinator to ensure that all required intervals for calibration are met, and calibration records are properly documented.
• Maintain and perform repairs, as needed, of all quality assurance laboratory testing equipment. A strong mechanical aptitude and skill with the ability to perform mechanical repairs is necessary. Having limited electrical knowledge to aid in troubleshooting is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
Education: Associates degree or minimum 3 years' experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance or in cement manufacturing field.
Additional Education Preferred: Bachelors degree
Field of Study Preferred: Science or comparable industry experience.
Required Work Experience: 3 years' quality control, quality assurance or manufacturing experience.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment that may include dust, heat, loud noise, etc. Experience working in cement, mining, steel or similar industries is desirable
• Excellent mechanical aptitude. Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrate strong skills in problem solving, decision making and multi-tasking. Maintains composure in dealing with difficult situations; demonstrates positive customer service attitude. Time and self-management skills, including being self-directed, effective realization of current priorities. Strong sense of teamwork Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds
• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
