American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring Level 1 trauma experience and current AZ or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities- Work in a 22-bed acute care Med/Surg unit
- Night shifts with 12-hour shifts and four weekend shifts per four weeks
- Patient population includes post-op, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and infection cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5
- Required to float to other med/surg and tele units as needed
- Uses Cerner EMR system
- No on-call requirement
- Resource RN and charge RN present for additional support
- RT assigned to the unit for respiratory care
- Expected to perform SIMs Lab skills and maintain sterile field during procedures
- Failure to pass the required exams after two attempts results in ineligibility for 6 months in AZ and associated regions
- Unit may require growth and adaptability as it is a newly developed team environment
- Holiday coverage may be required as per unit needs
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Returning candidates must not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, and Dignity facilities within the past year
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience
- Previous Level 1 trauma experience required
- Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with up to 2 attempts
- Demonstrated competency in sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Must pass a skills test in SIMs Lab during orientation
- Telemetry experience preferred due to floating requirements
- No first-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Must provide recent references including one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and another supervisor or peer reference from the past 3 years
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility as verified by driver's license
