The Pediatric Hospitalist Physician provides in-house care primarily for newborns, with responsibility for basic pediatric admissions and routine procedures in a Level II nursery setting. The role includes 24/7 coverage with phone consults, emergency admissions, and attendance at deliveries, supported by nursing and anesthesia staff. Candidates must be board-certified, have a clean background, and preferably hold an active South Carolina medical license.

Board Certified candidates only. Must have a completely clean background. No malpractice suits accepted.
Active South Carolina license strongly preferred.
Coverage Dates:
- January 9 11
- February 23 March 1
- FUTURE DATES
Schedule:
- 8:30 AM 4:30 PM in-house (8 hours)
- 16 hours of call daily (24/7 coverage)
- Census: 8 15 newborns; 0 2 pediatric patients per day
- Call includes nurse phone consults, possible ED admissions, and high risk deliveries
- No parent-initiated calls
Support:
- APRN support Wed Fri mornings
- 24/7 CRNA support for epidurals and C-sections
- Nursery, L&D, postpartum, and pediatrics located on the same floor
Scope of Practice:
- Primarily newborn care (90%)
- Basic pediatric admissions (10%)
- No PICU or complex subspecialty cases
- Procedures: circumcisions, CPAP management, frenotomy, simple polydactyly excision
- Rare emergencies: intubation, needle decompression, UVC placement
Level of Care & Transfers:
- Level II nursery; attend deliveries 32 weeks gestation
- (Level III NICU) approx. 2 hours ground transport
- (Level IV NICU) approx. 45 minutes by helicopter
