The Specialty Pharmacy Navigator supports the pharmacy team by assisting with prescription adjudication, processing, packaging, and distribution under pharmacist supervision. This role involves extensive interaction with patients and providers to ensure timely medication delivery and handling customer service, billing, record keeping, and audit tasks. Registered pharmacy technician certification and experience with medication profiles, claims adjudication, and prior authorizations are required for maintaining pharmacy operations and patient care standards.
Educational Requirements:
If working in a MN location, must meet one of these three education/experience categories as defined by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy:
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician with maintenance of continuous registration as a pharmacy technician with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy dating back prior to January 1st, 2013
- Completion of a board-approved technician training program
- Completion of the Essentia Health employer-based technician training program within first 90 days of employment
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4160 hours of pharmacy technician experience
- Previous experience working with patient medication profiles, claims adjudication and billing, copay assistance programs as well as experience with prior authorizations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered as a pharmacy technician with the State Board of Pharmacy in the state in which they will be working (MN or ND) preferred
Certification/Licensure Required:
- Registered as a pharmacy technician in Minnesota and Wisconsin (may provide a "pending" registration for Wisconsin)
- Possess a current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- Must maintain registration(s) and certification(s) for the duration of employment
- Ongoing continuing education and license renewal as required by the state's Board of Pharmacy
