Overview

Seeking a Locum Medical Oncologist for ASAP coverage at a busy outpatient cancer center in Grand Rapids, MI. The role primarily focuses on lung cancer, with some general/benign hematology support, and offers strong APP and specialty support.

Practice Highlights

• Outpatient cancer center setting

• Adult and geriatric patient population

• Practice mix: 60% Hematology 40% Oncology

• Primary focus on lung cancer

• Supported by 6 physicians and 10 APPs (inpatient and outpatient)

• Chemotherapy administered by Nurse Oncologists

• EMR: Epic

• Trauma Level II facility
  
  

Schedule & Coverage

• ASAP start

• Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM

• Call: 1 in 5

  • Weekday evenings: telephone only

  • Weekends: rounding with APP support

• Estimated credentialing timeframe: 90 days
  
  

Clinical Volume

• Outpatient: 8 16 patients/day

• Inpatient rounding census: 22 patients across 2 hospitals

• Includes 4 5 new patients/day
  
  

Required Duties & Procedures

• Tumor Board participation

• Orders tests and imaging

• Prescribes medications

• FNA/Biopsy experience required
  
  

Candidate Requirements

• Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Medical Oncology REQUIRED

• Active MI license highly preferred (providers needing to obtain will be reviewed)

• BLS REQUIRED
