American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Labor & Delivery position in an acute care OB unit with at least 2 years of relevant experience and a current IL RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care OB unit with 3 labor & delivery rooms, 1 OB-specific OR, 4 triage beds, and 7 postpartum beds
- Serve a diverse patient population including laboring and postpartum mothers, and newborns
- Assignment involves labor, delivery, newborn nursery, and postpartum care
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with a flexible schedule
- Required to work 2 weekends per month and cover holidays as needed
- May float to assist other departments as required
- No on-call requirements for travelers
- Charting is completed in Cerner; RNs are responsible for reading fetal strips via Cerner (EFM system)
- Respiratory support equipment available including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
- Unit follows AWHONN staffing guidelines
- OB unit averages 300 births per year with common diagnoses including preeclampsia, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, fetal growth restriction, and large for gestational age
- Support from charge nurse and house supervisor; no 24/7 in-house OB/Neonatologist
- Scrubs are provided; dress code requires black shoes, black pants, and a purple scrub top
- Unit-specific onboarding is provided upon start
- Current and active IL RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent OB nursing experience
- Certifications required: BLS and NRP
- Experience titrating magnesium sulfate and Pitocin
- Competence in labor, newborn nursery, and postpartum care
