American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with an active AZ or compact license for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position, requiring ACLS and BLS certifications.
Responsibilities- Position is on the 4th floor MedSurg/Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital
- Unit has 48 beds divided between surgical and neuro patient populations
- Patient ratios are 1:5
- Common patients include those with COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, telemetry, TIA, CVA, general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical needs
- Unit uses Cerner as the EMR
- Telemetry is monitored remotely with techs; RNs interpret and sign tele strips at least once per shift
- Uses equipment such as Bipap, Cpap, high-flow oxygen, and provides some breathing treatments
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- Floating may be required to East Campus or PCU if qualified
- No call or on-call responsibilities
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Unit support includes nurse aides with a typical 1:10-15 ratio and both charge nurse and house supervisor support
- No titration of drips required; diltiazem drips are administered at set rates
- Team-based approach with charge nurses not taking patient assignments
- One day of unit-specific orientation provided
- Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique testing prior to beginning assignment
- Holiday coverage required for major holidays, with specific shift expectations for Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving
- First-time travelers may be considered
- Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility for candidates from AZ, NV, NE, IA, and MN
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum of 2 years recent relevant RN experience
- Experience with reading basic tele strips and working with general and orthopedic surgical, TIA, and CVA patients is required
- Cerner EMR experience is recommended due to only one day of orientation
- Must provide copy of driver’s license for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the past 3 years
- Candidates must not have worked directly for facilities associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI/Dignity) in the past year
