American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry and neuro experience, with night shifts and flexible weekend requirements.
Responsibilities- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
- Cares for patients with CVAs, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, resections, seizures, TBIs, trauma cases, GI surgeries, and large wound management
- Staffing ratios are typically 1:3-4
- Utilizes Cerner EMR for documentation
- Night shift position (4x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
- Must be flexible to work 50% of weekends during the contract
- Floating may be required to different levels of care including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU within the hospital or to affiliated hospitals
- May be assigned charge nurse responsibilities depending on unit needs, with training provided
- May be assigned to precept or have students shadow as part of working in a teaching facility
- Expected to make up any call-in shifts as described by hospital policy
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
- First time travelers are accepted
- Up to 5 days of requested time off can be auto-approved
- Active IN or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Minimum 2 years recent RN experience including telemetry and proficient neuro experience
- Experience in management of drips required
- Experience with Cerner EMR required
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Conscious sedation and Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Not accepting local candidates for this position
- Previous staff or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
