• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (18:00 - 06:30)
• Hours per Week: 36

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
• Active Illinois RN license or eligibility to apply
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring (AHA or Red Cross)
• Clinical experience in antepartum, high-risk deliveries, Level I Nursery, LDRP, and mother/baby care
• Proficiency with Cerner charting preferred
• Community hospital or acute care experience preferred
• Ability to float to Pediatrics unit as needed
• Willingness to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients, including high-risk antepartum and newborn care
• Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries; circulate for C-sections and recover post-op patients
• Perform and interpret fetal monitoring (external/internal), NSTs, and OCTs
• Administer medications (antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, prostaglandins)
• Initiate and maintain IVs, administer blood products, and manage infusion pumps
• Conduct newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and discharge teaching
• Provide postpartum care: fundus/lochia/perineum assessment, wound care, and patient education
• Maintain strict isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Float to Pediatrics unit within scope of practice as needed
