Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.Position Detail:

· Shift: Full-Time Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
· Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36 hours / three 12’s

· Additional Details: Shift differentials given for evenings (7%), nights (12%) and weekends (Friday 7p - Monday 7a =7%).

Essential Skills
As a Registered Nurse (RN) at Saint Joseph Hospital, you will:
· Monitors and assesses critically ill and premature newborns, documenting changes and responses
· Administers medications and treatments using approved neonatal nursing techniques
· Conducts neonatal assessments, including vital signs, weight checks, and screenings
· Operates and maintains NICU equipment such as ventilators, CPAP machines, and infusion pumps
· Assists with life-saving procedures like umbilical line placement and intubation
· Educates and supports parents on feeding, developmental care, and neonatal health
· Prepares equipment and assists physicians during exams and procedures
· Develops individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
· Collaborates with neonatologists, therapists, and other specialists to improve outcomes
Minimum Qualifications
· Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
· RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.
· Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
· Current NICU experience - at minimum 18 months in a Level III NICU (this position is not open at this time to new grads or new to specialty)
Physical Requirements
Ability to see and read patient information, labels, and equipment
Frequent verbal communication and quick response to emergency situations
Manual dexterity for precise equipment manipulation, including computer use
Capability to lift and transfer patients and equipment
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
