Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current NYS RN license
Those without recent previous Operating room experience must participate and pass the six month Association of Operating Room Nursing Peri-operative 101 Education Program.
Successful completion and passing grade on the final exam is mandatory and a condition of employment as an Operating room RN.
BLS required
ACLS preferred.
Minimum one year medical/surgical experience preferred; preceptorship, charge and leadership abilities preferred for experienced RNs.
Experienced RN will possess a thorough knowledge of nursing principles, ability to provide quality patient care, and ability to assess patient's needs, e.g. clinical, teaching, mental and spiritual.
Must recognize safety issues to self and others and be able to assess and implement use of lifts to move patients in a safe manner.
Must be able to function well in stressful situations and have good, creative, problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate.
May be required to assume duties as a charge nurse.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required.
Knowledge in the use of typical clinical equipment instrumentation utilized in providing a safe and/or aseptic environment in and OR/ASU setting.
Lethal dysrhythmia interpretation skills.
On call required (Response time of 30 minutes).
