Part-time Registered Sonographer responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound exams (abdominal, obstetrical, vascular, thyroid, breast, testicular, etc.), producing images and preliminary reports, and assisting radiologists with procedures. Maintains equipment and exam rooms, follows safety and infection control protocols, and may be available for on-call duties. Requires graduation from an accredited ultrasound program, 1-2 years acute care hospital experience, and RDMS certification or eligibility.

The Registered Sonographer performs ultrasound scanning procedures. Reports preliminary findings and diagnoses to the radiologist. Takes anatomical pictures to demonstrate organs.

Primary Duties:
- Performs exams such as abdominal echoes, renal, aorta, thyroid, pelvic, obstetrical, bio-physical profiles, vascular studies, testicular and breasts. Color flow studies, Doppler studies, renal biopsies, and fluid collections of localized areas.
- Checks all films with radiologist; consults with the radiologist about the reading of scans and reports. Provides written, unofficial reports of examinations. Takes representative anatomical pictures, recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy, and exhibits knowledge of various pathological processes.
- Marks image for proper definition and explanation. Available for on-call status, as needed. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
- Follow the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens. Maintains ultrasound rooms for optimum efficiency: This entails stocking rooms with laundry, aquasonic gel, needles, gloves, and alcohol for assisting the radiologist with procedures.
- Keeps work areas and machines in a proper working order. Receives and reviews exam requests for ultrasound studies.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.
- 1-2 years' experience from an acute care hospital.
- RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) or eligible.
This position has a hiring range of : USD $35.68 - USD $64.71 /Hr.
