The Mammography Technologist is responsible for operating mammography equipment to perform breast imaging procedures, preparing patients, and ensuring high-quality diagnostic images. The role requires ARRT certification in Radiography and Mammography, applicable state licensure, and preferably experience in bone densitometry and breast imaging. Candidates should possess analytical skills, communication abilities, and adaptability to meet patient-specific care needs in a clinical environment.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved Radiography Program, required.
- Experience: One year experience in Mammography, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Certified and registered by ARRT in Radiography and Mammography – RT(R)(M), required.
- Certified and registered by ARRT in Bone Densitometry – RT(R)(M)(BD), preferred.
- Applicable state license, required.
- Additional Skills Required: Analytical ability, basic computer skills, good communication skills, ability to adapt to procedures based on age of patient, ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Prepares patient for procedures. Operates Mammography equipment.
