American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardio Thoracic ICU position, requiring a VA or compact license and expertise in critical care cardiac procedures.
Responsibilities- Work in the Cardio Thoracic ICU of a hospital setting with 8 beds utilizing the universal bed model
- Care for post-operative CABG, acute coronary, STEMI/NSTEMI, CHF, and stepdown patients within the ICU
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2
- Day shifts available (3x12 or 4x12 hours), with required every other weekend, floating, and holiday shifts as assigned
- Experience with specialized equipment including Hemosphere, Quantum, Accuryn, FloTrac/Vigileo, IABP, Impella, and Swan Ganz monitoring
- Must be proficient in Epic EMR
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
- Responsibilities include arterial/central/PICC line management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, procedural sedation, CVVHD/CRRT management, care of ventilated patients, and infection prevention
- Will assist with high acuity post-op cardiac, stepdown, and chronic/acute renal failure patients
- Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced cardiac ICU environment
- Completion of three hours of mandatory modules before start date is required
- Holiday and weekend coverage as needed during the contractual period
- Facility uses a universal bed model where ICU patients may be downgraded to stepdown care without changing units
- History of fit-test issues or inability to wear a standard respirator will disqualify candidates
- First-time travelers are accepted if all experience and credentialing requirements are met
- Requested time off is reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis
- Active VA or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a CVICU or CTICU setting
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Strong neuro experience required including EVD, ventriculostomy, and post brain surgery care
- Must demonstrate proficiency in Epic charting system
- No prior license or background hits accepted; any history will result in disqualification
- Drivers license required for address verification; candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Must pass an EKG competency exam with an 80% or higher on first attempt
- Physically able to perform essential ICU nursing duties and complete fit testing requirements (no PAPR accommodations)
