Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with open-heart experience for a day shift surgery unit assignment in New Jersey, requiring a NJ or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Surgery unit of a hospital
- Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 07:00 to 15:00
- 13-week assignment
- Call is required with no exceptions
- Care for perioperative patients including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults
- Open-heart procedures are part of the caseload
- Must be able to take call as part of assignment
- Pre- and post-op experience is beneficial
- Works directly with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR technicians
- Responsible for direct and indirect perioperative patient care
- Expected to participate in performance improvement activities and unit meetings
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
Requirements
- Active NJ or compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room RN experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certification from AHA or Red Cross
- PALS certification required within 30 days of hire
- Open-heart OR experience required
- Perioperative experience or on-the-job training required
- Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) certification preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- DCI/BVP workplace violence prevention certification (can be completed online)
