American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro unit night shift position requiring a NE or compact RN license and strong neuro/telemetry experience.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital setting on the 4th Floor North Med/Surg Neuro unit
- Patient population includes Med/Surg, neuro, post-neurosurgery, stroke, and telemetry overflow cases
- Unit has 25 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6
- Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips are titrated; PCA pumps are used
- Mechanical lifts are available in every other room
- RNs will work 12-hour night shifts and are scheduled every other weekend
- Holiday coverage required for 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's
- Floating to other medical surgical units or to units with Med/Surg patients may be required
- EPIC is used for charting; experience preferred but not required
- Unit focuses on high patient turnover with frequent admissions and discharges
- Strong teamwork, attendance, and patient-first attitude are essential for success
- Tele techs are present; RNs must have basic telemetry awareness but are not required to interpret strips
- 2 days of unit-specific orientation provided
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Artificial nails are prohibited for all patient care staff
- Unit serves a culturally diverse patient population
- First-time travelers with strong experience will be considered
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility as verified by driver's license
- Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience in a similar setting
- BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
- Driver’s license required to verify address for radius compliance
- Must pass a unit-specific open book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
- No prior direct employment (full time, part time, PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year
