American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a GA or compact license and strong med/tele skills.
Responsibilities- Position is in a teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation
- Work on busy Med/Surg and Telemetry units with 20-36 beds per unit
- Patient ratios are typically 1 RN to 4-6 patients
- Covers a diverse med/surg and telemetry inpatient population
- Travelers will float to all Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
- Day shifts from 7AM to 7PM, 36 hours per week
- Required to work 3 weekends within a 6-week period
- Must work on selected holidays (specific dates required)
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, and other standard equipment
- RNs are responsible for managing drips, trach care, chest tubes, and providing comprehensive med/surg and telemetry care
- Support staff includes CNAs, a unit secretary, charge nurses, PICC team, discharge nurses, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7
- RNs draw from central venous lines when needed; lab typically handles phlebotomy
- Team-oriented unit culture with a busy patient flow
- Orientation includes one day of educational modules and two days departmental training
- Navy scrubs are required for RNs
- Free parking is available on campus
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- At least 2 years of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification is preferred; must pass EKG competency exam during onboarding
- Experience with trach care, chest tube management, peripheral IVs, glucometer, and titratable drips (insulin, heparin, HR-directed drips)
- Med/Surg certification is a plus
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- First-time travelers will be considered
