The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse specializing in cardiovascular care, providing direct patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and health promotion. They follow established protocols to manage pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies and also engage in education, research, and consultation to improve care quality. This role encompasses both direct patient care and indirect practice activities aimed at enhancing overall healthcare delivery in cardiology.
Job Summary:
The Advance Practice Nurse is an expert clinician and patient advocate in a particular specialty or subspecialty of nursing practice. The Advance Practice Nurse can be a credentialed Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner. The Advance Practice Nurse provides direct patient care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning health promotion and preventive care within this specialized area of practice and prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment of health problems according to established joint nursing/medical protocols. In addition to direct practice, the sub-roles of the Advance Practice Nurse role include education, research and consultation. The Advance Practice Nurse is involved in indirect practice activities with the goal of improving the quality of care across the continuum of care.
