Med/Surg RN Job Details – Kingsport, TN

• Location: Kingsport, TN 37660 (Tennessee travel nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Surgical and Bariatric Unit
• Job Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
• Start Date: December 7, 2025
• End Date: March 8, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (18:30 – 07:00)
• Weekly Hours: 36 (potential for 36/48 schedule)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Orientation: 16 hours (non-billable)
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required
• Flu Vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Tennessee or compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing experience
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Must reside at least 100 miles from Kingsport, TN facility
• First-time travel nurses welcome
• Ability to float to other nursing units as needed
• Willingness to support nursing student education and clinical training
• Fit testing compliance (must meet CDC facial hair guidelines)
• Completion of required orientation modules (4-5 hours, non-billable)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit specializing in surgical and bariatric cases
• Monitor and assess patients, administer medications, manage IVs and surgical drains
• Provide wound care, telemetry monitoring, and manage feeding tubes and colostomies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy
• Float to other units as required to meet patient care needs
• Support and educate nursing students alongside clinical care duties
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols
