American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and current NC or compact licensure.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 26 beds
- General medical telemetry overflow and surgical patients including bariatric surgery, urology procedures, and general post-op care
- Typical RN to patient ratio is 1:5-6, may surge to 1:7-8 during critical need
- Night shifts from 7pm to 7am with every other weekend rotation
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required to units within designated region including multiple local facilities and within scope of practice
- Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Philips monitors are used
- Daily duties include managing surgical and medical telemetry overflow patients and performing advanced nursing skills as required
- Multidisciplinary support team includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomist, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist
- No telemetry monitoring techs are present—nurses perform direct monitoring
- Facility is a Chest Pain and Stroke Center without trauma or teaching designation
- Orientation includes facility onboarding and two days of departmental training
- Travelers are required to work at least 75% of holidays assigned during the contract
- Scrub color is navy

- First-time travelers may be considered but previous independent experience is preferred
- Up to 6 days of time off can be approved, excluding holidays
- Active NC or compact RN license in hand at time of application
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required
- Strong general Med/Tele skills including cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, and drain/tube management
- Experience with medication titration including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit for eligibility
