The Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care position involves providing specialized medical-surgical nursing care during the night shift at a hospital's Medicine IV Unit. The role requires managing complex patient conditions, collaborating with healthcare teams to develop care plans, and performing life-saving interventions. Candidates must hold a valid North Carolina nursing license, have at least one year of acute nursing experience, and be certified in Basic Life Support.
Novant Health is hiring a Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) registered nurse for the night shift at our New Hanover Regional Medical Center location in Wilmington, NC. We’re offering up to a $30,000 sign-on bonus as well as up to $7,500 relocation.
- Schedule: Full-Time, 0.9 FTE, 72 Hours per 2 weeks, 12-hour Night Shift, 7 – 7a

About our Medicine IV Unit:
We're seeking compassionate and patient care driven nurses to join our Med Surg team! Our unit comprises 41 beds; we have a patient ratio averaging 5-6 :1 it is our goal with our new team model, where every patient is assigned an RN, LPN and CNA it is our goal for the ratio then be 10:2. Given the high modality of the cases we handle, our nursing team thrives on great communication, ongoing team support and training within the workplace. What We're Looking For:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing.
- Current valid North Carolina nursing license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association required.
- 1 year of acute nursing experience, required.
If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
What You'll Do:
- Provide specialized care and monitor patients closely.
- Work with healthcare teams to develop care plans for patients.
- Manage complex conditions and perform necessary procedures.
- Respond quickly to emergencies and perform life-saving interventions.
- Educate patients and families on care and treatment options.
- Accurately document patient information and care interventions in medical records.
