Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for an inpatient acute care hospital position requiring at least 1 year of recent hospital or inpatient rehab experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in an inpatient acute care hospital setting at a Level III Trauma and Stroke Center
• Patient population includes ortho post-op, ICU, cardio-pulmonary, and medical-surgical patients
• Shift is 8:00am to 4:30pm on days
• Minimal exercise equipment use, with access to various mechanical lifts for transfers and mobility
• Travel position open only to candidates living outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Primary duties include evaluation, planning, and delivery of skilled physical therapy interventions for diverse acute care patients
• Must be able to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team and include families in care planning
• Pass/fail EKG testing required on first day, with up to two attempts allowed and study guides provided
• Responsible for creating individualized treatment programs and recommending appropriate assistive equipment
• Must maintain competency and participate in ongoing education and in-services
• Scrub or dress code requirements not specified
• First-time travelers will be considered if experience requirements are met

Requirements

• Current and active VA Physical Therapist license required (license required if applicable)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year acute care hospital and/or inpatient rehab experience required
• No new grads unless possessing 6 months of recent acute care experience within the first year after graduation
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program required; Doctorate preferred
