The Registered Nurse at Buckwalter ASC will provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-anesthesia care for patients undergoing spine and orthopedic surgeries. Responsibilities include patient assessments, maintaining sterile environments, monitoring recovery, and delivering discharge education. Compliance with healthcare regulations and documentation standards is essential in this PRN role with a schedule of two shifts per week.

The Buckwalter ASC is a new facility that will focus on Spine and Orthopedic surgery and will have 4 ORs.
Start Dates: March - the facility will open mid-April
Location: 75 Baylor Drive, Bluffton, SC 29910
Status: PRN
Schedule: 2 shifts/week. Shifts are available Monday-Friday. The Buckwalter ASC will be closed on weekends, major holidays, and does not require on call shifts.
What We're Looking For:- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Current valid North Carolina nursing license or Multi-State/Compact required.
- One-year relevant experience, preferred.
Duties:
Pre-operative Assessment: Perform comprehensive intake including medical history verification, surgical site marking, and IV initiation while ensuring all pre-surgical requirements and consents are complete.
Intra-operative Coordination: Serve as a Circulating Nurse to manage the sterile environment, advocate for patient safety during the "Time Out," and assist the anesthesia and surgical teams during the procedure.
Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU): Monitor patients’ vital signs and level of consciousness as they emerge from anesthesia, managing pain, nausea, and surgical sites to ensure clinical stability.
Discharge Education: Provide clear, concise post-operative instructions to patients and caregivers regarding wound care, medication schedules, and red-flag symptoms to manage recovery at home.
Regulatory Compliance: Meticulously document all phases of care and maintain strict adherence to infection control, HIPAA, and CMS standards to ensure the facility meets accreditation requirements.
