Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Springfield, IL 62781 (Central Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Acute Care Hospital – Cardiac Stepdown Unit (IMC/Telemetry/Stepdown)
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
• Start Date: November 24, 2025
• End Date: February 23, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night Shift (18:45 – 07:15), 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts/week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000–$2050
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Parking: Free with permit

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Cardiac Stepdown RN, IMC Nurse, Telemetry Nurse, or similar acute care nursing roles
• Active Illinois RN license (required at time of application)
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA or Red Cross only); NIHSS preferred
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting system
• Preferred: Experience as a charge nurse, in teaching hospitals, or Level I Trauma Centers
• Ability to float to similar units as needed
• Strong skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and emergency response
• Experience with post-cardiac procedures, hemodialysis management, IV therapy, and respiratory support equipment
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical support skills

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a busy Cardiac Stepdown/Telemetry unit (average census: 38)
• Monitor and manage cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and respond to cardiac emergencies
• Interpret and manage telemetry and dysrhythmias, both on-unit and remotely
• Care for patients before and after cardiac procedures, including angiograms, cardiac catheterizations, and cardiac surgery
• Manage feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, and provide wound care
• Administer blood products, manage central and peripheral lines, and perform phlebotomy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and rapid response
• Float to similar acute care units as required to meet facility needs
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and uphold infection control and isolation precautions
