Overview
The Employee Benefits Underwriting Consultant is responsible for working with their Team Leader, other Underwriters, Data Consultants, Account Managers, Producers, and Clients in preparing requests for proposals, obtaining, and analyzing carrier quotes, inputting, and analyzing data from various automation systems, and maintaining a small book of business. It also works collaboratively with the underwriting and data teams to perform financial and data analysis of a client’s healthcare plans.

How you'll make an impact
- Execute competitive bidding of all employee benefits coverage lines.
- Prepare PowerPoints outlining financial and contractual analysis according to company policy.
- Review vendor proposals for accuracy.
- Collaborate with Data Consultants, Account Managers, and Producers to evaluate, determine, and recommend alternative coverages, pricing, options, and plan design changes based on analysis of available plan elements and on client/prospect goals.
- Produce deliverables timely, accurately, and in compliance with company standards.
- Provide deliverables for Fully Insured and Self-Funded clients.
- Present benchmarking and applicable illustrations to clients.
- Perform basic duties in our Actuarial Tool and Data Warehouse.
- Forecast and develop client budget projections.
- Maintain positive relationships with vendor representatives.
- Remain abreast of the health insurance environment and constantly changing insurance legislation.
- Respond to routine and non-routine correspondence.
- Work independently and within the team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
- Represent AssuredPartners positively and professionally with both internal and external Clients.
- Maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
About You
Required: Bachelor's degree and 3 years within employee benefits field in an underwriting capacity. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
Preferred: Advanced Excel Skills. Math or Finance degree preferred.
Behaviors: Detail oriented; strong analytical skills and good communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to multi-task to meet deadlines with quality and accurate deliverables. Must maintain favorable relationships with clients, vendors and other office staff.
