American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Neuro/Spine unit night shift in California, requiring 4 years of RN experience and an active CA RN license.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Tele 2NE Neuro/Spine Telemetry unit within an acute care hospital
- Patient population includes telemetry, neuro, and spine cases with common diagnosis in these specialties
- Unit has up to 25 beds with RN to patient ratios of 1:5
- Night shifts are 12 hours, 7p-7a, with every other weekend required
- Floating required between Telemetry and MedSurg units
- EMR system used is Cerner
- Charge nurse is available but does not take patients
- IV and PICC team available during the day, RT and pharmacy are available 24/7
- Travelers have a 'home base' unit but will float as needed
- Floor-specific orientation provided for one shift on each unit
- Responsibilities include monitoring and managing telemetry, neuro, and spine patients, reading EKG strips, and collaborating with the care team
- Work is part of a multidisciplinary team with nurse aides and support from dedicated IV, RT, and pharmacy staff
- Holiday coverage follows permanent staff holiday rotation
- Scrub color is navy
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travelers receive unit-specific orientation and may float between Telemetry and MedSurg as assigned
- Candidates must not have held full-time, part-time, or PRN positions within CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity affiliates in the past year
- Sterile technique and Relias Dysrhythmia exam may be required during orientation
- Active CA RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 4 years total RN experience required; 2 years of recent solid Telemetry experience required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and proof of COVID vaccination
- Prior experience in a true telemetry setting and competency in reading EKG strips required
- Must be comfortable with neuro and spine cases in a telemetry environment
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver’s license must be provided for consideration
