American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring Cerner proficiency and the flexibility to fulfill charge nurse duties as needed.
Responsibilities- Work in a Medical Surgical unit adjacent to the Emergency Department
- Care for patients held overnight for continued workup as observation cases, similar to a clinical decision unit
- Common diagnoses include COVID, abdominal pain, respiratory distress, and other symptom-based conditions requiring further evaluation
- Night shift schedule is available, with options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
- Every other weekend is required
- Floating to other units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals is required
- Cerner EMR experience is required
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned pending operational needs, with training and resources provided
- Must be comfortable with Med/Surg patient care and supporting the unit adjacent to the ED
- All travelers are required to float as needed within the hospital and to affiliated facilities
- Five days or less of requested time off can be auto-approved
- Candidates must be able to work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Dress code and scrub requirements will be provided during onboarding
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Not accepting local candidates for this contract
- Former permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before being considered as travelers
- Active IN or Compact RN license in hand at time of application
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience required
- Current BCLS and NIHSS certifications accepted from AHA or RQI
- Proficiency in starting IVs and using nasal cannula required
- Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and prior charge experience preferred
- Degree must be from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
