Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology position, requiring recent trauma experience and a NH or compact license.
Responsibilities
- Position is on a combined Med/Surg Oncology and Hematology/Oncology unit
- Unit includes 24 beds dedicated to Hematology/Oncology/Gyn Oncology and Med/Surg, and 9 beds for Hematology and Cellular Therapy
- Patient population primarily includes individuals with lymphoma, leukemia, ovarian cancers, and those undergoing cellular therapy
- Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy and managing side effects, as well as caring for patients receiving radiation therapy and radioisotopes
- Day and night rotating shifts required
- Chemotherapy administration is a key component
- No local candidates accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
- Typical responsibilities include post-surgical care, telemetry monitoring, complex wound management, and central line care
- Will care for patients with a range of oncological and surgical needs, including side effect management from therapies
- No local candidates will be considered due to a strict 75-mile radius rule
- Assignment requires full compliance with licensure and certification maintenance throughout the contract period
Requirements
- Active RN license for NH or compact state required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Must have recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma experience within the last 2 years
- Experience with chest tubes, drips (such as diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, amiodarone), and care of lines/tubes/drains for post-surgical patients preferred
- Proficiency with trachs, laryngectomies, telemetry, complex wound care, and central line maintenance and blood draws preferred
