American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in a high acuity unit requiring ACLS, BLS, and an active IL RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in an 8-bed high acuity intensive care unit (ICU) within an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-stroke (CVA), post-trauma, and cardiac patients
- Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:2-3
- Care for sedated, ventilated patients including titration of vasopressors, pain control and sedation drips
- Perform and manage PEG tube feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care, and care for tracheostomy patients
- Common titratable drips include Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, and Cardizem
- All beds are hard-wired to Phillips telemetry monitors, centrally monitored by in-unit telemetry techs
- Epic charting system is used
- Night shifts are 12 hours (7p–7a) with rotating weekends and holidays
- ICU RNs may float to the Medical/Surgical unit
- RNs provide primary care in the ICU as there are no CNAs or patient care techs assigned
- House Supervisor is available 24/7 and RT is in-house at all times
- Tele-health MD support available after hours
- Scrubs are required; any color is permitted and only approved t-shirts may be worn
- Includes classroom orientation and two unit-based shifts with a preceptor
- Holiday coverage required as part of rotation
- No current call or standby requirements, but may be subject to change
- No COVID-19 vaccine requirement for employment
- Local candidates living within 50 miles are eligible for local rates
- Active IL RN license required at the time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
- Minimum of 1 year ICU RN experience required
- Experience with ventilators, tracheostomy, sedated patients, and titrating drips required
- Experience with Epic EMR is preferred
- Must be able to perform all required physical duties associated with ICU care
