Position Overview:

- Shift: 24-hour shifts (7 a.m. to 7 a.m.)
Coverage Details:
- Reason for Coverage: Scheduling needs
- Trauma Level: II
- Patients Per Shift: Average of 2 patients per shift, with a mix of general surgery and trauma cases
- Call Requirements:
- Beeper call
- Expected response time: within 10 minutes by phone and 15 minutes in-person
- Phone consults: Approximately 12 per 24 hours
- Call involves unassigned patients only
Requirements:
- Certification: Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery; trauma surgery fellowship preferred
- Licensure: Must be licensed in Michigan
- Certifications Needed: ACLS, ATLS, BLS
- Additional Skills: Proficiency in various surgical procedures, including but not limited to:
- General and Trauma Surgery
- Laparoscopic surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, Nissen fundoplication)
- Chest wall/pleural procedures, breast surgery
- GI endoscopy (upper and lower)
- Vascular access, chest tube, and central line insertion
- Minor orthopedics and hand surgery
- Pediatric surgery capabilities are advantageous but not required
Facility Information:
- Setting: Inpatient, trauma facility with advanced surgical capabilities
- Support Staff: No APP or resident supervision required
- EMR System: McKesson
- Credentialing: Estimated 30-day timeframe with complete application
- Privileges: Temporary privileges available to expedite onboarding
