American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg, Tele, and PCU Float Pool position requiring an AZ or compact license, night shifts, and strong titration skills.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital float pool, covering Med/Surg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Units (PCU) across two campuses
- Float assignments may include inpatient holds in the ED and coverage for both East and West campuses
- Patient population includes geriatric, orthopedic, and post-cardiac procedure patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: PCU 1:4, Med/Surg Tele 1:5-6
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts, with block scheduling when possible
- Every other weekend required and holiday rotation with permanent staff
- First to float among staff as needed
- No on-call or standby requirements
- Equipment includes Telemetry, CPAP, BiPAP, Heated High Flow Oxygen on PCU, and nurses must be able to interpret cardiac strips
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Assist in caring for patients post-MI, post-cardiac cath, and post-CABG (day 3-4)
- Responsible for titrating a variety of cardiac and critical care drips
- Will utilize nurse aides for patient care support
- Each unit is supported by a charge nurse who does not take an assignment
- Must be flexible with scheduling and floating needs across both campuses
- Notification of float location occurs two hours prior to the start of each shift
- Dress code requires solid color professional scrubs; navy scrubs required starting in October
- Orientation includes a general hospital day and individual shifts on both Med/Tele and PCU units
- Holiday coverage is shared with permanent staff
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in a PCU setting
- Must be proficient in titrating IV drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with 80% or higher within two attempts prior to contract signing
- Must provide two professional references (one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one supervisor or peer from the past 3 years)
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
- May not have been employed by any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
