Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg position in a rural hospital setting requiring at least one year of experience and a SC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Med/Surg unit of a rural hospital
- Night shift schedule from 19:00 to 07:30
- 13-week assignment
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:6
- Required to work every other weekend
- Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to Med/Surg patients using standard protocols and physician-approved plans
- Care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, foley and suprapubic catheters, pressure ulcers, and those at high risk for falls
- Participate in hourly rounding and follow hospital-specific safety practices
- Support and mentor novice staff members and contribute to the department's growth initiatives
- Expected to maintain professionalism and excellent communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Required to use appropriate health and safety equipment when necessary
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license
- At least one year of recent RN experience in a Med/Surg setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Primary source verification of nursing license or certificate required
