Requirements

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and cardiac rhythms to provide timely, lifesaving interventions
  • Titrate and manage drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, low-dose Dopamine) per unit protocols
  • Deliver PCU-level care for adults and geriatrics, including post-cardiac cath and EP study patients
  • Troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as BiPAP, tracheostomies, and high-flow devices
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate safe patient transitions and effective care plans
  • Use Epic for accurate documentation and timely charting of assessments and interventions
  • Serve as a reliable resource on shifts, occasionally functioning as charge nurse with a light assignment

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in good standing (ND or compact licensure accepted if applicable)
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, Telemetry/PCU or cardiac nursing strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to read and interpret cardiac strips independently
  • Experience titrating drips and managing hemodynamically unstable patients
  • Familiarity with Epic charting is preferred
  • Comfortable floating to med/surg, PCU, and assisting with ER holds as needed
  • Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts and every-other weekend

Education

  • Active RN license required
  • BSN preferred but not required; unit accepts RNs without a BSN

Knowledge & Skills

  • Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
  • PCU and step-down nursing care
  • Cardiac nursing principles and familiarity with post-cath and EP study care
  • IV drip titration and medication management
  • Basic and advanced cardiac life support (BLS, ACLS)
  • Electronic charting (Epic preferred)
  • Respiratory troubleshooting for BiPAP, trachs, and high-flow devices
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
