Job Title: Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psych RN)
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Rotating D/E/N shifts, including holidays, on-call, callback, and charge duties based on unit needs
Job DescriptionThe Psychiatric Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with mental health conditions in a safe and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and family members to gather case history
- Plan and provide individualized nursing care
- Develop nursing diagnoses addressing medical and emotional needs and recommend appropriate treatment options
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff to design and implement treatment plans
- Administer psychotropic and other medications and monitor patient responses
- Arrange additional medical attention when necessary
- Assist patients in understanding emotional disturbances and the importance of treatment
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients and staff
- Monitor vital signs, assess pain levels, and ensure appropriate pain management
- Document patient care accurately in medical records and follow physician orders
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality
- Keep accurate records of treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results
- Perform administrative duties such as filing, answering phones, and completing electronic progress notes
- Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and the public through direct assistance or appropriate referrals
Note: Emergency Room (ER) experience is also required.
Requirements- Active New York RN License (NY ONLY)
- BLS Certification (AHA ONLY)
- Minimum of 2 years of Psychiatric RN experience
- CPI Certification required
