Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Travel Nursing Job in Leonardtown, Maryland

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Leonardtown, MD 20650 (Southern Maryland healthcare jobs)
• Facility Setting: Intermediate Care/Cardiac Stepdown Unit (IMC)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/22/2025 – End: 3/23/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts/week (36 hours/week)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1590 - $1710
• Patient Ratio: 1:4-6
• Scrubs: Caribbean blue (not provided)
• Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent IMC/Cardiac Stepdown RN experience (travel nurse experience preferred)
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Active Maryland or Compact State RN license
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS (American Heart Association)
• Proficiency in chest tubes, PCA infusions, bedside cardiac monitoring, non-titratable drips, and IV infusions
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
• Two (2) supervisor references required
• Weekend coverage required as per unit needs (every other weekend)
• Flu vaccine required prior to start

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with cardiac and complex medical conditions
• Monitor and manage patients with CHF, diabetes, COPD/asthma, sepsis, pneumothorax, ESRD/dialysis, hypertension/hypotension, ETOH withdrawal, and post-surgical needs
• Perform and manage chest tubes, PCA infusions, IV infusions, and bedside cardiac monitoring
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Serve as charge nurse as needed, overseeing patient assignments and supporting nursing staff
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and clinical standards
