American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in North Carolina requiring a compact RN license and 18 months recent Med/Tele experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a 24-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and observation cases
- RN patient ratios are 1:5-6, with up to 1:7-8 during surge situations
- Every other weekend rotation is required
- No call or call-back required
- Holiday coverage is required for 75% of holidays
- Floating required within Region 3 facilities and within scope of practice
- EMR is Epic, with a minimum of 6 months Epic experience required
- Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms
- Day shift is 7a-7p, with schedule cycles every 6 weeks
- Support staff includes CNAs (1:12 ratio), charge nurse, IV/VAT team, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, and 24/7 intensivist coverage
- Telemetry remotely monitored with a dedicated tech
- Charge nurse may have a patient assignment but is always available as a resource
- Facility provides a two-day departmental orientation
- Navy scrubs are required
- Free onsite parking is available
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Up to 6 days of time off can be approved, excluding holidays, with required adjustment to contract length if hours are not met
- Friendly and supportive unit culture
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Demonstrated skills with cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), IV starts, wound care, and management of tubes and drains
- Minimum 6 months Epic EMR experience required
