Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring advanced cardiac skills and a NC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Med/Surg Tele unit with 10 beds and an average census of 8 patients
• Serve a patient population with diagnoses including chest pain, syncope, and angina
• Trauma Level III and teaching hospital environment
• RN to patient ratio is 1:5, CNA to patient ratio is 1:10
• Schedule is 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900), with every other weekend required
• Required to work 75% of holidays
• Floating required within the region to facilities including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division, and others as needed and within scope of practice
• EMR system is EPIC, with Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Main responsibilities include providing comprehensive care to Med/Surg Tele patients with a variety of cardiac and medical needs
• Strong interdisciplinary support with charge and resource RNs, IV/VAT team, and access to RT and hospitalists
• New employee orientation includes facility onboarding and two days of unit-specific training
• Team-oriented culture with a welcoming environment and employee engagement activities
• Scrub color is navy
• Travelers’ permanent address must be 50 miles or more from the assignment location
• First-time travelers will be considered but are not preferred
• Up to 6 days of requested time off can be approved, excluding holidays, and must be made up if contractual hours are not met

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS required for Resource Team only
• Minimum of 18 months Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Stroke experience and cardiac rhythm interpretation required
• Ability to perform trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (including Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management), and PCA pump operation
• Experience with medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• Experience using EPIC EMR required
