Job Overview:
An ICU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to critically ill or unstable patients who require close monitoring and advanced medical support. ICU nurses work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and play a vital role in assessing patient conditions, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimal care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide continuous monitoring and assessment of critically ill patients.
- Administer medications, IV infusions, and life-support treatments as ordered.
- Manage ventilators, drips, central lines, arterial lines, and other advanced equipment.
- Perform frequent patient assessments and document changes in condition.
- Respond quickly to medical emergencies and perform lifesaving interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate and communicate with patients and families regarding care plans.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
- Assist with procedures such as intubations, central line insertions, and bedside diagnostics.
- Ensure accurate charting in the EMR and timely reporting of patient status.
Required Qualifications:
- 1 year of RN ICU experience
- Oregon RN License
Active BLS from American Heart Association
