The Registered Nurse in Observation provides comprehensive patient care through the nursing process, ensuring patient rights and confidentiality while coordinating care across departments. This role involves working in a Med Surg service line with diverse patient populations, requiring cross-training among specialty units to build broad clinical expertise. The position demands relevant nursing licensure and certifications such as ACLS and BLS, and offers benefits including medical coverage and tuition support.
Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Med Surg Overview:
Mercy Fort Smith’s Med Surg Service Line is made up of 8 specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. While you will have a “home unit”, we cross-train our nurses between the various specialties to provide a strong foundational knowledge of all types of patient conditions, comorbidities, procedures, etc. Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their everyday work, Med Surg is the place for you!
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
- Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
- Certifications: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period. Must have ACLS and BLS or obtain within 90 days of hire.
