The NICU Nurse Practitioner provides specialized care to premature and critically ill newborns in a hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, managing individualized care plans, performing medical procedures, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The role also involves family education, documentation, and staying current with neonatal care advancements.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced NICU Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at our prestigious healthcare facility in Chicago, IL. In this critical role, you will provide specialized care for premature and critically ill newborns, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal health outcomes for our tiniest patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of neonates in the NICU, including physical examinations and vital sign monitoring.
- Develop, implement, and manage individualized care plans for each patient, collaborating with neonatologists and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide direct care, including administering medications, performing procedures (e.g., intubation, central line placement), and managing ventilator settings.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, making timely adjustments to care plans based on clinical findings and best practices.
- Offer education and support to families regarding their infant's condition, treatment options, and care needs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and team meetings to discuss patient care and enhance service delivery.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with institutional policies and regulatory standards.
- Stay current with advancements in neonatal care, guidelines, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Active NP license in the state of Illinois
- 1 to 2 years of NICU experience (preferred)
- Active DEA
