This regional perinatal center features a 60-bed NICU that serves as a critical care hub for the region. The facility is part of a comprehensive children's hospital system that provides advanced neonatal services including high-frequency ventilation, whole body cooling, and nitric oxide therapy. The facility also maintains a collaborative relationship with Virginia Tech School of Medicine for teaching and research opportunities.
Opportunity: Board Certified-Neonatologist
Join an established team of 10 neonatologists and 5 neonatal nurse practitioners in a leadership role as either NICU Medical Director or Associate Medical Director. This is a permanent, full-time position within a respected healthcare system that values clinical excellence and professional development.
Job Details:
- Provide expert neonatal care at a 60-bed regional perinatal center and a 6-bed Level 2 NICU at a partner facility
- Lead NICU operations as Medical Director or participate as Associate Medical Director
- Oversee advanced neonatal services including high-frequency ventilation, cooling therapy, and nitric oxide treatment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including pediatric subspecialists, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and pediatric surgeons
- Participate in medical education with Virginia Tech School of Medicine students and residents
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and research within the Virginia Neonatal Perinatal Collaborative
- Provide clinical coverage including day shifts, on-call, and weekend duties
