Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with oncology and telemetry experience for a night shift position serving adult patients.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a hospital Medical Surgical/Oncology unit
• 29-bed unit serving adult medical, surgical, oncology, urology, and telemetry patients
• Patient ratios are 4-5:1 during the day and 5-6:1 at night
• Responsibilities include central line draws, ports, blood administration, PCA pumps, bone marrow aspiration assist, and Pleurx chest tubes
• Night shift (3x12hr), every other weekend required
• Clinicians may be floated within their scope to other units as needed
• EMR system used is Cerner
• Royal blue/white scrubs are required
• Primary duties include caring for adult patients with cancer, palliative care needs, and providing family education on oncological processes
• Level IV trauma center and major teaching hospital environment
• Free parking provided for travelers
• Open to accommodating blocked schedule requests
• Limited holiday RTO: request no more than one of the three major holidays
• Float as needed within scope of practice
• First-time travelers are considered
• COVID-19 vaccine is not required

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license (or able to submit with pending license)
• Minimum of 2 years Med/Surg experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• ONCC/ONS certification required
• Telemetry experience required
• Experience with chemotherapy administration preferred
• Experience with central line draws, PCA pumps, ports, and Pleurx chest tubes required
• Candidates must be able to provide medical proof if declining a flu vaccine during flu season (Oct 1–Mar 31)
• Must live at least 100 miles from the facility; 75-99 miles may be considered with approval
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years after their last day worked to be eligible
