Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an acute oncology position with IV chemotherapy experience and Illinois RN license required.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute hospital oncology unit with a 19-bed all-private room setting
• Patient population includes all cancer types, especially lymphoma, leukemia, hematology, medical, radiation oncology, and Gyn/Onc patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights, with 1:1 staffing for specific therapies
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700) with every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Floating required to other Gen Med level care units as part of the float rotation
• Uses Epic Beacon EMR for documentation
• House-wide telemetry (Philips monitors) in use, with no requirement for nurses to interpret strips
• Unit is supported by charge RN and house supervisor 24/7, as well as PCTs
• Provide care for oncology patients, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration and monitoring for medication side effects
• No specific scrub color or dress code required
• Unit-specific orientation is 24-36 hours
• Traveler RNs participate in self-scheduling with collaborative schedule adjustments
• No call or standby requirement
• Local candidates are accepted at a local rate if residing within 50 miles of the facility
• COVID vaccination is not required for this assignment
• Holiday and weekend coverage is expected as part of the regular rotation

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS (AHA) and ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience
• Experience administering IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy regimens, including handling precautions and patient monitoring
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
