Our job summary

The position is for a full-time Gastroenterology Physician to provide outpatient clinic and procedure coverage in Central New Mexico starting immediately and continuing into 2026. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day patient care in clinics and outpatient procedures without on-call duties, working alongside part-time gastroenterologists and support staff. Candidates must be board certified or eligible, hold or be willing to obtain a New Mexico medical license, and have experience with common GI procedures but not necessarily ERCP or EUS.

Weekday Clinic + Procedure GI Locums Job in Central New Mexico Seeking Coverage Starting in 2026 + Ongoing

Jackson and Coker is partnered with a central New Mexico client that has a coverage need for GI outpatient clinic + procedure coverage beginning as soon as possible. The hope is to add one to two additional bread & butter GIs to their schedule immediately to fill a full-time schedule and work alongside of their current part-time GI. The client's goal is to help navigate the increase in procedure needs and to support the programs growth while they recruit for a permanent GI.

Coverage need/schedule:
- Seeking full-time weekday coverage with NO call coverage requirements
- Will work 8A-5P, Monday - Friday
- Can anticipate 3 days spent in the clinic & 2 doing outpatient procedures each week (will increase surgery days as block time schedules get filled in due time)

Details/Requirements Assignment :
- Seeking candidates with an active NM license or that would be committed to obtaining a NM license ASAP
- Candidates must be Actively Board Certified or truly Board Eligible (within 5 years of completing their residency/fellowship program)
- Seeking general Gastroenterology coverage (ERCP/EUS is not required)
- Will work alongside of 1 part-time GI who will be with the facility through June 2026 (will need a 2nd part-time locums starting in June as well)
- Clinic support staff consists of:1 PT GI, 1 front office coordinator, 1 RN with 30 years of experience in GI + 1 NP
- Average daily patient volume in the clinic: 15-20 PPD
- Average daily patient volume in the surgery center: 12-15 procedures each day
- Pill cam & fibroscan available in the clinic setting
- Will have anesthesia support, moderate sedation is not required
- Current EMR is Cerner in the Surgery Center & Athena in the Clinic (will be transitioning to Epic throughout system in March 2026)
