Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in surgical procedures such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernia repair
- Perform pre-operative assessments and post-operative care
- Administer IV medications and manage medication drips
- Conduct wound care, including dressing changes and wound debridement
- Insert and manage various medical devices (e.g., feeding tubes, Foley catheters, arterial lines)
- Interpret diagnostic tests including EKGs and ABGs
- Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary rounds
- Perform history and physical examinations
- Provide patient education and discharge instructions
- Write daily progress notes, discharge orders, and summaries
- Order and interpret imaging studies and laboratory work
- Manage pain and participate in end-of-life decision making
- Assist in various medical procedures such as chest tube removal and PICC line placement
- Participate in code situations and initiate CPR when necessary
- Utilize Allscripts electronic health record system
