Position Overview:
The Occupational Therapist will provide outpatient therapy services (with some acute care), delegating responsibilities to COTAs and Aides. This role focuses on patient-centered care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in line with OT standards, physician orders, and facility policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate patient function through formal/informal testing, including skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, developmental, social, and cognitive functions.
Develop individualized, goal-specific treatment plans based on assessment findings and patient tolerance.
Submit written treatment regimes for physician authorization and update as needed; co-sign COTA verbal orders.
Establish and coordinate treatment schedules with patients, families, and caregivers.
Educate patients and caregivers regarding condition, prognosis, treatment options, and interventions.
Provide supervision for COTAs, Home Health Aides, and students per regulatory standards.
Requirements:
Current Michigan OT license – required
2+ years of OT experience – required
Primarily outpatient experience (with some acute care) – required
Pediatric experience – required
BLS (AHA) – required
