Minimum Qualifications — Nurse Practitioner Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an acute care, neonatal, or NICU setting (Neonatal NP / Acute Care NP experience preferred)
- Current state APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) license or eligible for expedited licensing in Utah
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from a recognized body (ANCC or AANP)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification for Healthcare Providers
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II–V and Federal DEA registration (II–V)
- Fluent in English (speak, read, write)
- Manual dexterity and physical ability to assist with patient care and operate clinical equipment
Primary Responsibilities — Neonatal Acute Care
- Perform comprehensive neonatal patient assessments and collect accurate clinical information
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests and exams to guide neonatal care
- Diagnose neonatal conditions and develop individualized, evidence-based care plans
- Provide and oversee treatment including prescriptive practice within state scope and DEA-controlled substance rules
- Deliver advanced specialty neonatal care using clinical judgment for timely and cost-efficient outcomes
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures appropriate to neonatal/acute care practice
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in the electronic medical record
- Educate families, caregivers, and clinical staff to support continuity of neonatal care
- Train, mentor, and precept clinical staff and students as appropriate
- Stay current with best practices in neonatology, participate in continuing education, and support quality initiatives
- Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary providers to optimize patient outcomes in the NICU
