American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with at least two years of experience, a GA or compact RN license, and current BLS and NIH certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in a 34-bed Med/Surg hospital unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
- Common patient diagnoses include appendicitis, cholecystitis, small bowel obstruction, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, sepsis, hypertension, diabetes, and various surgical cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6 with an average daily census of 27
- Day shifts available (3x12 hours, 7:00–19:00)
- Floating required within the facility
- No on-call requirements
- Every other weekend required
- Epic EMR, Pyxis, and SBAR utilized
- Responsibilities include managing complex adult medical-surgical patients and operating specialized equipment as needed
- Must complete all compliance and orientation modules before start; bi-weekly orientation schedule applies
- Travelers are required to work assigned major holidays per facility policy; limited RTO for holidays allowed based on assignment duration
- Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first week
- Navy blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Travel pairs cannot be scheduled on the same shift within the same unit
- No blocked scheduling permitted
- Active GA or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum two years of Med/Surg experience required
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Must submit up to two supervisory references (manager or above, not charge nurse)
- Must be away from all Piedmont facilities for at least one year if previously employed as perm or PRN
- Ability to use NGT, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and wound vacs required
