American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit night shift position in an oncology-focused environment, requiring a compact or OH RN license and strong PCU skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a comprehensive cancer center Progressive Care Unit specializing by cancer diagnosis
- Patient population includes oncology, BMT, acute leukemia, hematology, medical oncology, gynecological oncology, urology, colorectal, surgical oncology, and corrections healthcare cases
- Expected to float to MedSurg and PCU Oncology units
- PCU patient ratios are 1:3, may be 1:4 with mixed acuity; Med/Surg Telemetry ideally 1:4, may be 1:5
- Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
- Weekend schedule is variable based on unit needs
- Staff use self-scheduling requests; no set or block scheduling offered
- First week of orientation is Monday-Friday day shift, followed by five bedside orientation shifts between weeks 2 and 3 before working independently
- Main responsibilities include providing care to oncology and progressive care patients with a focus on infection prevention and fall reduction
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly as instructed after booking
- Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- First week consists of orientation prior to independent work
- RTO (requested time off) must be provided at time of consideration and built into the contract
- Staff are expected to adhere to strict infection control protocols
- Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years recent high-acuity PCU or higher experience required
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Must provide 2 professional references, at least one from a manager or formal leader
- Former employees must be separated for at least 6 months to be eligible
